Over the last couple of years the town council has undertaken a rigorous review of its policies, governance arrangements, financial systems and community engagement work. As a result of this we are delighted to have been accredited with the Foundation Level of the national Local Council Award Scheme. Councillor Mel Carr, Chair of the town council, was recently presented with the award by Mr Dennis Coates, National Association of Local Council’s Local Accreditation Panel Chairman. Councillor Carr said “This is a great achievement by Sedgefield Town Council and recognises that we achieve good practice. The council is committed to further improvement and we look forward to one day achieving even greater success in this scheme”. Further information about the Local Council Award Scheme can be found here.

Appointment of new Projects and Media Coordinator
After 18 months of working at Sedgefield Town Council I am delighted to have been awarded the position of Projects and Media Coordinator. I have had a thoroughly enjoyable time working in the office so far and have received some very warm (and appreciated!) feedback from Parish Hall users and local residents alike. Among many other things, I look forward to continuing my work alongside the Estates Working Group to improve the facilities in the Parish Hall and other future projects for the community.
