Here you can find information on the main events we hold throughout the year:
Council Coach Trips
We hold three coach trips a year - July, August and November. Tickets can be purchased from the council office in the months leading up to our trips. Please note: tickets must be paid in cash to reserve the seat.
Check the news page for posters of each trip.
Tub Planting
This annual event takes place every June, rounding up budding, green-fingered helpers from local schools and organisations to help decorate our beautiful village green. Our helpers follow a carefully planned tub map, finding the right flowers to plant in the right spot. It’s always a fun morning, followed by some refreshments and a group photo. This event is organised directly with participating groups.
Fireworks Display
Our annual Fireworks Display in Ceddesfeld Grounds is always a popular event. Tickets are £3 adults | £2 u16s and can be purchased from the council office and Ceddesfeld Hall Bar from middle of September onwards. Tickets must be purchased in advance to guarantee entry for this much-loved event.
Why not also bring your carved pumpkin along with you and enter our Halloween Howler competition that takes place in the car park. Judged by the Mayor of Sedgefield, this competition awards three prizes for the most creative, spooktacular designs!
Check the news page to see the annual posters, competition announcements and event images.
Remembrance Service
On Remembrance Sunday, residents come together to commemorate those who have lost their lives serving our country.
A remembrance service is held in St Edmund's Church, followed by a gathering at the Turning Circle, for those organisations who have purchased a poppy wreath from the town council office to lay their wreaths in front of the War Memorial and pay their respects.
Sedgefield Snow Party
Our beloved annual Snow Party event hosts Santa’s Grotto in the Parish Hall, a Christmas craft fayre in Ceddesfeld Hall and a carol service in St Edmund’s Church, all followed by the switch on of the town’s Christmas lights on the village green. Occasionally, the Christmas Tree Festival in St Edmund's Church also coincides with our event.
This event is free with the exception of Santa’s Grotto tickets (2024 price TBD), available from the council office, and include a small gift.
Our glow raffle gives one lucky child the chance to switch on the Christmas lights and win a goodie bag including a Beamish Unlimited Family Voucher. Raffle tickets (in the form of a numbered glow stick) are £1 and can be purchased from the council office or local primary school offices leading up to the event.
Check the news page to see the full event poster for each year, a recap of each year's event and to find out which lucky child pressed the big button!
