Who We Are

Sedgefield Youth Club, funded and supported by Sedgefield Town Council, is open to young people aged 7+ (between school years 3 and 11). While all our sessions are based in Sedgefield Parish Hall, we welcome members from surrounding towns and villages too!

Our core sessions take place every Monday evening during term-time and our management committee always try to get activities organised through the school holidays too. Keep an eye out for holiday posters on our youth club news page.

What We Do

We have loads of fun during our core sessions, with games consoles, music, board games, arts & crafts, sports fun, seasonal activities, parties, themed nights and much more! Our trained youth staff are there to provide any help and guidance with homework, issue- based discussion and private 1-1 advice whenever needed.

One of our favourite activities is cooking. If we are not baking some special treats like pancakes before Shrove Tuesday, you might find us ticking off another cuisine from our ‘Cooking Around The Continents’ journey where we learn about and cook a new dish. We always have refreshments and healthy snacks available even if we don’t have cooking plans for the term. Don’t forget to bring along some change to treat yourself to our tuck shop too, open every session and managed by our members themselves.

We regularly take part in fundraising activities for new equipment and trips. Several times a year we hold coffee mornings and take part in community events like Sedgefield Snow Party and the Fireworks Display. In 2022, we held our very first Breakfast with Santa which was a huge success and we plan to hold one again annually.

Outside of term-time, we apply for funding to hold sessions during the Easter and summer holidays. We try to make our holiday sessions as fun as possible, with trips, discos and lots of fun activities and healthy food. To take part in our non-term time activities, we do require registration with the club and attendance to one of our core sessions (either before or during the holiday sessions) to get to know our staff and members beforehand.

To see updates on our plans for future sessions and a recap on what we’ve done recently, take a look at our club news & gallery page.

Management Committee

Sedgefield Youth Club is run by our management committee who meet quarterly to oversee the running of the club, plan future activities and recap on events that have passed. We also keep on top of the club’s finances and assist the town council in obtaining funding for non-term time activities. We will soon add a ‘Club Meetings’ page displaying the minutes and agendas of our latest meetings.

The committee currently consists of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, plus 6 members of the youth club. It’s important to us that our members have a say on what goes on at the club and gain valuable first-hand experience fulfilling such roles. You can view a copy of our constitution here.

We would love to welcome parents or residents who are interested in joining the management committee and want to contribute to the ongoing improvement and success of the club. Please get in touch via sedgefieldyouthclub2022@outlook.com.
