This year’s Fireworks Display took place on Friday 31st October 2025. As usual we held our Halloween Howler Pumpkin Competition from the car park and it was a real treat to see Sedgefield Youth Club return with their Halloween bake sale to raise money for the club!
There were fewer pumpkin entries this year as many would still be on doorsteps welcoming trick or treaters throughout the night! We still a fantastic display submitted by children, families and adults. We had several pumpkins inspired by the very popular K-pop Demon Hunters film and some of our most creative designs ever.
The Mayor had a tricky job but chose his three winners just before the fireworks began. Congratulations to our two winners who received £20 Sainsbury’s vouchers and our Runner-Up who walked away with £10 Sainsbury’s voucher:
As the time came, the Mayor did not head down to the bottom of the hill… no, this year the honour of setting off the Fireworks was bestowed to 1st Sedgefield Scout Leader Hugh Dunlop. Hugh has participated in the Fireworks Display for many years selling hotdogs and warm drinks to the crowd, along with other leaders and members of 1st Sedgefield Scouts.
When we found out that Hugh was having a special birthday and retiring from work that very same day, it seemed fitting that Hugh (who hurried from his last day at work to be at Ceddesfeld Hall) be the man for the job. Hugh was thrilled with his surprise and executed the task perfectly!
Thank you to all involved in the planning and running of the night and to all who attended – it’s always lovely to see so many families come together to enjoy this community event.
